      <image:caption>By 4:15 a.m., I was 7cm, Maggie Rogers was playing in the background, and things were ramping up.  Side note: I really didn’t like cervical checks. Even when timed between contractions, they’d always trigger one immediately after, eating into my rest time. That being said, it was nice to hear I was progressing.</image:caption>

That may have been because I was still standing—or maybe it was just the surprise of how fast everything had happened. My husband cut the cord, and I delivered the placenta still on my feet. Using a towel roll positioned like this removes this pressure and allows for proper opening and movement. After many years as a fitness professional, Abby saw patterns of miseducation and misunderstanding surrounding how pregnant and postpartum women were moving and relating to their bodies. She believed women deserved more than over generalized exercise guidelines and “bounce back after baby” fitness messaging.  Enter, Materra Method. Abby trained to be a Pregnancy and Postpartum Exercise Specialist and began to fuse her love for workouts like barre, Pilates and yoga with corrective exercises chosen for the pre and post natal woman.
